Blessings ~ Some months ago there was a fire in the hut the children were living in ( 7 people all together ) and their home and everything they owned was destroyed. Love Is The Answer recently sent funds to help the children complete two new huts ( two, so that the girls can sleep in one, and the boys in the second along with the stored food ). The children made the new bricks themselves and with the help of LITA donors are paying for the labor to have the huts built, secured and roofed ~ Love and Gratitude ~
Hello my Mum,
I am very thrilled to be writing to you today . It has been a while and now I felt that I could send you this.
The construction of the huts has been on our agenda and all of us have indeed been participating in it.
One hut should be ready by the end of this week , today they are completing to put the grass and we shall put the door (shutter). I am hoping that by next week the girls will move on to their hut in which we also hope to keep all of our food.
The second hut is being built now the wall and we hope that it will also be ready next week and then we shall be doing the roof.
Catherine our mum at distance you can never know how proud we are that soon we shall be at our own home and again have that pride of being by ourselves.
Please once more accept our love , appreciation and gratitude for all that you have done for us.
With love,
Gideon
Photo ~ Gideon in 2008, as he presented me with a rooster, the children’s way of proudly saying thank you by giving a most valuable and meaningful possession of theirs. A rooster is considered a great honor to both give and to receive in Africa, and for my part most certainly was in this context… orphaned children, living in extreme poverty in rural Uganda with very few possessions, growing and storing no food at the time, joyfully giving me a gift that was alive and represented future food, security .. ~ Love ~
